Celebrating Families – On Family Day
In 2017 The Children’s Foundation celebrated 60 years of service to children and their families. It was decided that Family Day was the best day to celebrate this landmark birthday. Since then we have been hosting a Family Day Celebration at our Vancouver location. This year 110 people walked around the large city block that houses our cite being led by The Carnival Band. We had a photo booth, crafts, face painting, games, prizes, hot chocolate and cookies. Special guests included the Whitecaps U23 Coach Nick Dasovic, who brought two signed soccer balls and a team jersey for give away, Vancouver City Counsellor Pete Fry, and Don Davies Member of Parliament for our riding. Nick, Pete and Don in their opening remarks all committed to community health and well-being which means supporting families who need that extra help overcoming and working through adversity in order to grow and learn.
This year, with your Make a Difference fund, 12 family movie passes were distributed to our families at the Centre for Childhood Neurodevelopment, Education and Family Wellbeing in Surrey. It is most often not financially possible for the whole family to go to the movies. We wanted to treat them to a day together for all the hard work that they do in our treatment programs. So, this year they will be enjoying themselves at a cinema nearest them.
We want to thank all donors for Making a Difference in the lives of our families, and thank you also for making The Children’s Foundation a part of your family.
