The Educational Transition Program is a multi collaborative partnership program assisting children to engage with their strengths as they return to a community school.
Key Message:
We believe that children and families thrive best in a strengths-based environment. Families are at the centre of services and supports are collaborative, culturally sensitive, individualized and flexible. We are trauma-informed and attachment based.
What we do:
The Educational Transition Centre offers a school program for children who attend, or will be attending, school in the Surrey School District.
We start with assessing the strengths and needs of each child. By providing a smaller, more supported and structured classroom environment, and developing social and emotional coping skills along with basic literacy and numeracy skills, the centre helps prepare children for re-integration into the most appropriate school setting.
Parents are an essential part of the team and are included in all aspects of goal-setting, planning and decision-making. Services at the Educational Transition Centre include extensive classroom support and adapted programs that foster resilience, self-regulation, and social-emotional development, as well as academic and school readiness skills.
