Steven Mah, President

Steven had a long and successful career at Telus where he held positions in Marketing, Sales, Project Management and Engineering. Steven brings his diverse experience as well business acumen to the board table.

Elizabeth Demner, Director

Elizabeth is a community volunteer of long standing.
She has served on the boards of St. George’s and Crofton House schools, and was President of the Junior League
of Greater Vancouver. She has been President of The Children’s Foundation for 13 years, and she is very
proud of her association with this outstanding
social-profit agency.


Simon Chen, Treasurer

Simon is a senior manager in KPMG’s tax department and has been with KPMG since 1999.

Alina Gerrie

Dr. Alina Gerrie is a hematologist/oncologist at BC Cancer and Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia. She completed her medical degree and internal medicine training at the University of Toronto, followed by a hematology fellowship at UBC, with specialization in leukemia/lymphoma and bone marrow transplantation. She earned a Master’s of Public Health degree from Harvard University. Dr. Gerrie brings her passion for public health to The Children’s Foundation and is honored to serve on its board.


Amanda Demner

Amanda Demner is a lawyer with Vancouver Airport Authority, the private, not-for-profit organization that operates Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Amanda practices corporate governance and privacy law, advises on conflicts and ethics, and drafts organizational policies. Prior to working at YVR, Amanda practiced commercial real estate law at a leading international law firm.

Barbara Constantine

Barbara Constantine is a business management and community engagement professional with a strong media background. She served as a TV host with CBC, CKVU (now City TV), and Knowledge Network, and produced large-scale events and projects for the City of Vancouver (Olympic and Paralympic Operations) and BC Children’s Hospital (Children’s Miracle Network Telethon). Her commitment to youth includes volunteer involvement with Big Sisters, Girl Guides, Scouts Canada, United Way and Variety Club, and she is proud that her son and daughter also volunteer with youth. Barbara is honoured to lend her skills in support of the outstanding services the Children’s Foundation provides to children and families in the Lower Mainland.

Danny is an account executive with HootSuite and serves large corporate clients around the world. He is a graduate of the Sauder School of Management at UBC.

laura devries

Laura DeVries is a labour and employment lawyer with McCarthy Tétrault LLP. She received her law degree from the University of British Columbia in 2013, and was a judicial law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada from 2013-2014. Laura has served as a mentor with the YWCA Mentoring Program for high school students interested in a career in law and worked and volunteered with community development organizations in Malawi and Uganda. Laura is honoured to support the important work of the Children’s Foundation.

marsha d’Angelo

With over 15 years experience, Marsha has worked for top communications agencies in Canada and the U.K. In partnership with clients and consultancy teams, she’s designed and directed many research projects, branding workshops, international media campaigns, and strategic plans for organizations in technology, government, education, non-profit and finance. Marsha is a former Associate Dean for Kwantlen University’s School of Business, a published writer, and an accomplished facilitator and speaker. As a university lecturer, she’s received Canadian and international awards for her engaging and impactful instruction of communications, public relations and business presentations. An avid volunteer, Marsha received UNICEF’s Dorothy McKinnon Award for her communications and PR work, is a former Board Member of The Vancouver East Cultural Centre, and currently sits on the Board of Directors of The Children’s Foundation where she assists with the organization’s marketing and communications efforts. She holds a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Toronto.

Naomi Giberson

Naomi is a community curator built for companies that benefit health, habitat and the human spirit. She applies her background in Neuropsychology, Business Development and Social Impact to her work in the venture capital space. A passionate advocate for science, preventative health, mental wellbeing and equality, Naomi invests in and supports Digital Health and Social Impact companies. With a long-term interest in mental health and supporting vulnerable members of our community, Naomi first worked with The Children’s Foundation on a pro-bono consulting project during her Master of Management at Sauder. Naomi then joined the Board to continue to support The Children’s Foundation in its life-changing work.

Vashti Singh has spent the past 15 years promoting some of the biggest and most well-known brands in Canada. An experienced marketing and communications professional, Vashti has created targeted campaigns that present private and non-profit clients in the most compelling and credible light. As a published writer and editor with a Masters of Journalism from UBC, Vashti has an excellent sense of the stories that resonate with a wide variety audiences. She has managed an extensive array of marketing channels, developing and executing strategies that span internal communications, media, web, social media and thought leadership. Prior to starting her own PR and communications practice in 2013, Vashti held positions as an account manager at an award-winning Toronto PR agency, and led the media relations team at Ernst & Young Canada.
