Counselling and support services for families of children up to 12 years of age with complex developmental and behavioural conditions.

We believe that children and families thrive best in a strengths-based environment. Families are at the centre of services and supports are collaborative, culturally sensitive, individualized and flexible. We are trauma-informed and attachment based.

What we do

Cedarwood offers counselling and support services for children and families with complex needs. Families can receive a variety of services depending on their specific needs, and are provided with services for up to one year. Depending on the specific needs of each child and family participating in the program, service at Cedarwood may include:

  • Individual, couples, and family counselling and therapy

  • Parent coaching

  • Parent education groups

  • Children’s groups

  • School liaising

  • Referrals to community resources and services

  • Integrated case management

  • Waitlist support group

You can expect

  • An understanding of your child’s strengths and how to build on them.

  • An understanding of your child’s needs and how to effectively support them for success.

  • Individualized and family-centred planning for your child.

  • A safe, supportive atmosphere where you and your child can build trust and therapeutic relationships.

  • Support, education and skills development on a wide range of topics that effect families.

  • Support and access to other community resources and services.

  • Interventions that help to strengthen families, increase resilience to adversity and stress, and promote healthy child development.

  • Services to support family development, well-being and cohesion.
